Headband-style wearable device recognized in the Medical & Health category

One of the world’s top three design awards

Korean healthcare startup Leesol has been named a Finalist in the Medical & Health category at the 2024 International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA), one of the world’s most prestigious design competitions. The company announced on the 18th that the award recognizes its strong design competitiveness on the global stage.

The International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) has been organized by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) since 1980. It is considered one of the most influential design awards in North America and is widely recognized as one of the three major global design awards, alongside Germany’s Red Dot Design Award and the iF Design Award.

Each year, winning designs are selected based on comprehensive evaluations of design innovation, user experience, aesthetics, and sustainability.

The award-winning product from Leesol is Sleepisol Plus, a sleep-inducing wearable device designed in the form of a headband worn around the head. The product was selected in the Finalist category, which recognizes outstanding designs that demonstrate creativity, functionality, and sustainability.

Sleepisol Plus features brainwave entrainment technology and is designed to help users improve sleep quality, manage stress, and enhance focus in everyday life.

Through this recognition, Leesol has demonstrated its excellence from a distinctive design perspective that considers modern consumer lifestyles.

The device was developed in collaboration with industrial design company Adeption, applying an ergonomic design optimized for direct contact with the head and forehead. To maximize comfort, lightweight materials were used to reduce the device’s weight to approximately 30 grams.

The adjustable band can stretch up to 11 cm, ensuring comfortable use for people of all ages and genders.

In terms of design, the device features a minimalist and refined appearance. With the exception of electrodes and a few buttons, unnecessary elements were minimized so the device can be worn as easily as a regular hairband.

The charging cradle was designed in a semi-circular shape, small enough to fit in one hand, making it convenient for storage and placement. The product is available in **two neutral colors—white and gray—**designed to blend naturally into everyday environments.

Dukhee Jung, CEO of Adeption, the industrial design lab responsible for the design of Sleepisol Plus, commented:

“Being selected as a finalist at the IDEA Awards in the United States is a significant achievement for a technology startup like Leesol and opens up greater opportunities for entering the global market. We are delighted that Sleepisol Plus has gained international recognition for both its innovative technology and design. This award will serve as an important opportunity to introduce Leesol’s products to a wider global audience. Moving forward, Leesol and Adeption will continue developing products that deliver greater value to customers.”

Sleepisol Plus was also recognized for its environmental sustainability. Its packaging uses eco-friendly pulp materials that are 100% recyclable, and instead of a traditional printed manual, the product includes a single card with a QR code. By scanning the QR code, users can access video guides explaining how to use the device, helping reduce paper usage.

Leesol also announced that it is currently holding a special promotional event in celebration of the IDEA award and Mental Health Awareness Month in October. Customers can visit the company’s official online store, leesolshop, to enjoy exclusive benefits.

Recently, Leesol successfully raised KRW 4 billion in Series A funding from investors including Vine Ventures, Kolon Pharmaceutical, Korea Alternative Investment Asset Management, New Paradigm Investment, and Find Us.
